I know this may be random, but i've just started listening to the music for some ancient 16bit games i used to play. Downloaded an emulator as well
, but thats besides the point.
What id like to know is the feel everyone who used to play those games got. Most of the games were incredibly imaginative in terms of the limited music they had.(a bunch of beeps really)
Games like Sonic3, Vectorman, Desert/Jungle strike,Alladin and The Lion king had incredibly well thought out music... and it was CATCHY, even though it was 16 bit.
Thats what i believe lack in games of today... a lot of game makers have become very lazy and as long as its sounds ok they put it in, i havnt had a games music really grab me since and early 2004 game called Front Mission 4. Before that it was my Megadrive games.
In fact..... the only "modern" game thats come close in terms of catchyness was Fallout3.
But my question still stands to all the game makers.... Wheres that Special TUNE!
